When the Romans conquered a small town in the northern part of Israel, they had no way of knowing they’d found one of the best vacation spots around. But thousands of years later, visitors are still flocking to Tiveria, also known as Tiberias, to find all they need to relax and have fun.
The two kilometer long (that’s almost a mile and a half) promenade is the place to be in Tiveria. During the day, street musicians perform, popcorn and cotton-candy are sold, and there are plenty of restaurants to keep everyone satisfied. At night, the promenade is hopping with music, food, and happy people.
One of the reasons Tiveria has attracted so many visitors is its location on Lake Kinneret, also known as the Sea of Galilee. The Lake is Israel’s only source of fresh water, which means that both humans and animals can drink from it. Some of the animals that come to the Kinneret are fish, pelicans and turtles.
